“There’s been a rash of installers scoring a soundbite or two on HGTV lately.  Cinema Design Group International (CDGi) in Boca Raton, Fla., landed two of its custom-designed theaters on a show entitled “Spoil Yourself with Home Theatres,” which aired in late January (one theater is shown right). The 30-minute episode featured 10 theaters that seat six to 15 guests. “We’ve never had national TV coverage,” says president Brad Bergoine, “so this was a great opportunity.”

Once the HGTV production team contacted CDGi, Bergoine assembled the details and submitted five theaters for consideration. “We did an email blast to our dealer base and some clients, sent out a press release and posted it on our website and Facebook page,” Bergoine says about the television coverage.

“While we didn’t get local press coverage, we got a lot of nice calls from dealers and a few clients … In the bigger picture, this is key to the CEDIA channel –that a non-industry media source is committing time to the [home theater] category.” To see CDGi’s HGTV footage, visit its website at cinemadesigngroup.com.

Also jumping on the TV-coverage bandwagon is JL Audio –a manufacturer of high-end auto, home and marine audio loudspeakers and electronics. JL Audio is scoring national TV time as the exclusive audio equipment supplier for the cable TV show “Unique Autosports: Miami,” which is hosted by celebrity car customizer Will Castro (shown left, bottom).

“My clients and team demand JL Audio,” Castro says, “because you have to have the best in order to have the best. My team is desgining and creating the best sound systems for my clients. I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Guest stars on the eight-episode show on SpikeTV, which aired on Feb. 28, include N.Y. Yankees stars A.J. Burnett and Nick Swisher, NBA players LeBron James and Amare Stoudemire, and Sean “Diddy” Combs and hip-hop artist Fat Joe.
