CDGi‘s Carey Schafer and Nancy Galea will provide a brief description of the design inspiration behind the two featured theaters.
Brad Bergoine, CDGi’s president stated ,“Of course we are excited to be recognized on the national stage for our work; however more importantly in thinking bigger picture - this is key to the CEDIA channel- that a non-industry media source is committing time to our category.”

September 1, 2009, Boca Raton FL:
What do you get when you mix Blue and Green?
CDGi introduces its new Turquoise environmentally friendly acoustic panel at the CEDIA Expo in Atlanta this month.
“In our continuing mission to define how luxury can be green, CDGi is launching an acoustic panel that at its core is manufactured from recycled denim material – that’s right ‘Blue Jeans Baby” states Jeff Galea the companies CEO.
The printed outer decorative fabric skin is manufactured with 100% recycled polyester. The ink used in printing the custom panels is derived from non-solvent based pigmented dyes. The company offers several other decorative fabric options that cover the cotton acoustic core. The Turquoise Recycled Cotton Fiber Acoustic Treatments can contribute to earning LEED credits.
The new Turquoise panels are truly “green” reducing the ecological footprint of acoustic treatments and our dependence on fossil fuels, including foreign crude oil. The new family of custom panels is designed with the environment in mind, and retains the long life, durability and acoustical properties for which CDGi is known for. CDGi Turquoise panels are manufactured without harmful Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which are reported contributors to global warming.
The new panel, as well as the entire CDGi line of theater accessories, is made in the USA.

Authentic Deco Theater Marvel
By Brad Bergoine • Feb 16th, 2009 • Category: Featured Theater
Boca Raton, FL: While Boca Raton is known for green golf courses, tennis courts, Addison Mizner architecture and some famous and infamous Country Club residents; it is certainly not recognized for an Art Deco District similar to its SOBE neighbor to the South. So when a client of Boca Theater & Automation came to them with a challenge of converting an office into a dedicated home theater with a deco theme; the company partnered with Cinema Design Group International to complete the interior design requirements.
The first challenge was the clients desire to have a set of glass doors which would allow light into the room, never a good idea for a theater. We suggested a type of door which would become opaque when energized. The placement of the doors would cause a hard acoustical reflection on the right at the “First Reflection Point” so getting the room to not sound off balance was a significant challenge which was met with a combination of absorptive and diffusive elements on the opposite wall and surrounding the doors.
The next challenge was the clients need to have an office at the back of the room and the wish to keep the rear window. This is not a large space so we had to work with every inch to provide for 2 rows of seats and his desk and ample cabinets. The rear window was covered in a split element door set which matches the side elements beautifully.

Award Winning - Eco-Conscious Theater Seats
By Brad Bergoine • Aug 27th, 2008 • Category: Announcements

2008 Excite Award Winning Theater Chair. Cinema Design Group International recently unveiled a new breed of theater seating – The Royal Line™ - at the CEDIA Show in Denver, CO the first week of September.
Each chair is handcrafted one at a time by expert craftsmen with decades of experience making individual and unique designer quality furniture. The chair’s exterior surface is made from Elmo Leather. Elmo recently received acknowledgement from. The EU LIFE Fund as one of the 22 best LIFE-Environment projects for waste water treatment.

The premium raw hides that are used in the manufacturing of these top of the line home theater chairs are produced from Scandinavian cowhides—the most expensive hides in the world. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the leather itself is produced in Sweden by the cleanest tannery in the world. The tannery built a new waste water processing plant, which harnesses bacterial micro organisms’ natural ability to convert waste water pollutants into nitrogen, thereby reducing harmful emissions by 80%. In addition to leather that is a little more earth conscious, the chair is manufactured with water based adhesives (low VOC).
The Ultracel™ foam that is used in the construction is made without the use of harmful fluorocarbons. The Excite Award was presented to CDGi by Custom Retailer Magazine, and annouced in the October issue of the publication.
